Hey if we are going to do this whole forum thing properly, and want it to grow, we better make a start of it. So whoes first, Ok thats me.
Im Allan, race in modified division in a bucket, from the Hutt Valley, mid to late 30's, been into all sorts of cars all my life.
Work as a warehouse/Distribution manager as a main job and have my finger in a small business that I'm helping an associate in the USA run.
I lurk here and believe it or not on an import forum, so have abit of an idea and a feeling for both sides of the fence.
There you go, feel free to add your bits.
and in case your new to this whole forum thing, theres certain words that will get changed if you use them, auto word censor, ve just discovered one of them.
but anyway, be yourself and dont be shy, say whats on your mind and lets see if we can make this forum work.

pardon my extreme stupidity here, but whos gav ?? I feel I should know the answer to this, but alas I don't.
what sort of cart you got, I bidded on a wild one on trademe the other month, one with a pulse jet that does over 100km/h. I was prepared to waste a few hundie, but it went for over $700 in the end. would have been way cool to do demo passes during lunch at masterton with it.
sorry just read your reply again, its a scooter youve got, Im an idiot.

Hi, just joined up. Anyway I'm Steve, I've been a V8 fan for years, still got my mk3 Zephyr, with 351C, it might run again one day.
I made the mistake of buying a japper (GTO)4 years ago because I wanted to get back into dragracing, I'd have been better to put the money back into the Zephyr.
Last season I paid my yearly sub yet again but never recieved my card, was I the only one?, also what happened to this years AGM?.
That'll do for now.
Steve

Hi everyone, thanks Allan I just signed up 3minutes ago give me a chance to type.
I'm Carl, but know as 'Philly' everywhere.
Like avgas, I'm also from a Jappa forum, although I think that the two of us are a very small number there that truely love V8's.
I've been around cars my whole life. From when my parents owned an immacluate HK holden Monaro. They've recently just finished rebuilding another '68 HK GTS Monaro, which sadly only runs a 186 but is just a cruiser.
I've been good friends with Andy Smith from Levin, who's done alot of work on my car. I'm currently in the process of getting my V8 '84 VH Commodore back on the road, and have just started a show car '85 VK which I plan to have fully complete in the next 5 years for summernats (wishful thinking).
Well suppose thats about it for me for now.
Oh, one of the admins on here, when I signed up I wanted to have my name as holden_philly . But I was told that it contained an illegal character. Now I see holden_fan with the _ in it. If possible could I please have mine changed to holden_philly. Thanks in advance.

Ok, Ok, the only reason I didn`t put anything up last nite is because I had to go to work...
Anyways, I`m Mike, aka kwkbrk, 45, father of 4, grandfather of 1, manage a transport business during the day, and do a bit of security work 3 nights a week as well. Thanks kids ....
I`m the guy that shows up in the turbo Volvo, I like to think that I deliver the `feelgood` factor.
People look at my car then feel good about theirs. Then because they don`t like their cars beaten by a Volvo, and they usually don`t, that also makes them feel good. Spectators laugh at it, also making them feel good.
I have however beaten cars up to 400 cubes, and lets face it, that makes me feel really good !!
Nice to see you here, Allan Carl and Steve, all regulars on NZPC, as I am, and I look forward to meeting more of you in due course ...
Cheers Mike

I guess while everyone is introducing themselves it would be rude of me not to... Ok, I'm not a drag racer (yet) but I spend quite a bit of time getting involved where I can (untill my car finally comes together). I put together and look after the masterton Motorplex website, as well as a couple of others, and spend racedays at Masterton taking photos for the site of you guys and gals out there doing it. One thing that springs to mind after reading some of the posts is how easy it is to criticise. IE, the team at Masterton Motorplex. I was a little concerned about setting up a forum for the site, as I (and others) often hear little whinges and moans about the decisions etc made by the Motorplex organisation. It is so very easy to complain.......but have a quick think about it. Since the demise of Thunderpark, what has there been in the lower north to keep you guys on the track? Street drags? Ok, they provide a quick thrill, and they definately have thier place, but look at the big picture. If it wasn't for these guys, out there on Friday night before the meeting, setting up (and building) the grandstands, crowd control, barriers etc, running the meetings (sometimes against all odds) and there untill all hours of the night after it's all over and you're tucked up in your nice warm bed, (not to mention the untold hours spent organising, sponsors, airport and council authorities etc, etc, etc) where could you go, within a few hours of home to race on a good, straight, flat quarter mile track? Do you think there would still be the numbers of cars (let alone top cars) down this end of the island? Would there be an even bigger problem with young guys and girls illegaly drag racing on our streets? Ok, sorry, i'm burbling, just keep in the back of your mind when you feel like having a go at the Motorplex, these (small number) of DEDICATED, HARD WORKING, and VOLENTARY guys and gals have, for several years, kept drag racing ALIVE in the lower north. Whats more, is most of them have drag cars themselves, but have kept them in thier sheds so they can help make it happen! To sumarise; If you want to help improve the track, or the running of it, get on board. Contact a committe member (theyre surprisingly friendly) or get to a meeting. I hope this forum will not become a place just to add your negatives, but to have a general ballance of topics, to help to get people involed or more involved in the sport, and the track.
Cheers. Justin (barracuda)

hey, Does Gavin Dougthy ring any bells?? anyways, hello to justin i didnt really understand what you said on ya last post (well kinda i did) but if you got the auckland traction at masterton you will have the perfect track (considering masterton is as flat as a pancake) but the traction is still pretty good at masterton with that kool old yellow front engined rail pulling a HUGE wheelstand one day ;D cheers holden_fan

Seeing we are still doing the introduction thingee let me jump on the bandwagon. Shane here, I crew for Pete Meo (I'm the big ugly dude with the beard). I put Pete's website together and have been following drag racing in New Zealand for over 20 years. Next time you are at Port Road or Masterton bowl on over and say gidday.
