I wouldn't take much notice of that Justin, the weather people are usually wrong and as we all know at Masterton it will either be, bloody hot or bloody cold, and we will moan either way!!!! ;D

That's something that the committee would need to look at, and I'm sure that they would have at some stage in the past. I guess when you think about it, $30 for two full days of entertainment is pretty d**n good, when you compare it to other events, and the huge costs of running the two day meetings. I'm not sure about Masterton, but in Wellington it's almost $15 to see a movie, sort of makes the drags seem too cheap in comparison......

Indeed they did, and it was a site to see, just a pity they didnt get a chance to do a back up run and claim a record, apparantly they didnt get a looser right of return, they lost the race and therefore didnt get to backup the record run.
But theres obviously more in it yet, specially since from where I was pitted and in talking to them, they had their little problems, and once those minor little bugs are ironed out, well I would say at a guess they will do some more records and back then up.
How cool would it be to see Andre lined up against some of the quicker 8's, say an 8 second bucket or something, would be cool to see, but it would come down to wether they could bare to be on the track together, and i dont think Andre would be the one objecting.
Yes a little shytestir, but youve got to respect a timeslip, regardless of what's under the hood.

Bring it on, 8 seconds is 8 seconds, and it's impressive to see whatever is under the hood!

There is nothing like a bit of healthy competition to get us "old skool" dragracers pushing the envelope further. No one likes getting beaten on the strip but deep down it always seems harder to take when the oposition only has "half an engine" It's all good though, I take my hat off to them the really serious ones out there, like Andre, Rod Harvey and even now the Lawton Rotorsport boys with that evil looking Mazda have some well prepared cars that even the hardest of old school v8 lovers have to admire.

Let's face it though, most "old school racers" still guess at air/fuel ratios and wouldn't even know what an oxygen sensor is, never mind a wide band sensor.
A bit of modern technology in those old lumps would even things out a bit.

Who needs a laptop?? That's what I mean.
Just a few simple electronics.
you can buy a kitset from Dick Smiths or Jaycar that will give you an LED readout. They've been available for years. Cost would be a bit more than a good set of ringspanners. You can't beat technology except with rules.

Anyone who cant see the advantages is being left behind in the dark ages, you just need to look at the top race cars, (even here in lil 'ol NZ) they are now using data logers to retrieve info and data from each run, to allow a precise tune up. OK, the average racer isnt going to go that way, but like Steve said, you dont have to go to the extreme, just a few sensors can tell you so much, and doesn't cost a lot. We just have to look at the cars with "half an engine" and see them snapping at the heels of the big V8's to see that they are doing lots of things right. I guess as time goes on, there is becoming a much more viable substitute for cubic inches! If only they sounded like V8's, maybee more of us would swap sides! ;D
