hi there..
Just a quick rant...
I was lucky enough to run into Ross and Sandi McDonald today [from Manawatu] at Willowbank. They were here for the nostalgia drag meeting, but under their arms, they were loaded down with MMP 2013 dragrace calanders.... they were selling them here to help raise funds for the new track at Masterton... soon to be their [and everyone elses] new home track.
I would like to take this oppotunity to thank both of them, and the many others that have worked with them over the last year to raise both awareness and money towards the MMP venue. all your efforts are nothing short of awsome...runs, shows, calanders, public diplays...and the list goes on. Everytime i pic up an exported copy of petrolhead or NZ Hot Rod Mag i see another mention of these people. They ask for nothing in return for their efforts as their rewards will be a place in their region [ish] that they can call their local and take their cars to race.
I say "ish" because the new track is no-where near their area but it will be like sliced bread to them to have a permanant purpose built venue an hour away.
They can see the benifits of this venue and this is what is driving them to help in whatever way they can... If many more from other areas did the same, the joint enthusiasm would not only help the financial cause but would also raise the moral of the other racers that are in the lower North Island.
Oh, and thankyou for the back issues of petrolhead...much appreciated and good to catch up with what is happening in the NZ scene. Always a good read.
It wasn't till after you had gone that i realised you had done the best sales job on me... i knew the calanders were $15 each, and i was only too happy to pay that for an excellent production... but you got me with the exchange rate.... $15au is $19.50 NZ...keep the change, guys..you deserve it.. ha ha ha
Again, Many thanks to you all, and loverly to see both Ross and Sandi.
