Mike, far to much information there Im afraid we don't want to know anything about your blockage, your s**tpipes or anything of the like. But I can just imagine you upt to your armpits in it, most of us would have been knees, but your not that tall, right NOS I 2nd that, i thought the coverage was almost a waste of time and effort, on my behalf to watch it. But then something is better than nothing, JUST.

OK, so i didn't miss much.
we'll have too see how our one comes across. the auckland meet had 3 cameras working and our track only got 2
But in fairness, it would take 3 cameras to cover all of the auckland meet ..... 1 at the start line covering out to the 330 foot and a 2nd at the finish to show the top end and the 3rd at the half track to look down into the hollows because the cars disapear from sight for a moment before bouncing back up onto the track again.
At MMP you only need the start and finish covered because the track is so flat you can see the curve of the earth on the horizion
My plumbing...mmmmmmm just trying to give you a mental picture so that you can get into the feel of where i'm at..

well, that was shlt wasn't it? 9 1/2 mins of horse pucky. The advert for formulla one in Australia, that followed the drags, was not only longer than our programme but it showed more of that racing than our programe did, and it was an advert!!! Yes, it is nice to check out the loverly talent and the tatoos that they wear when we are at the track but i dont think that close ups of that was in the best interest of promoting the sport. We are trying to get away from the image and impression that we are all black "T" shirts and tatooed boggans and here we have national tv coverage of our national points series showing more of the wrong images then the right ones. and we paid them dearly to do it... Who was doing the editing? Who dictated the format as we required it to be seen? We and our supporters want to see racing. We want to see the final (at least) of all the rounds. Not just a few of the top cars. For crying out loud, the suppossed final between Dave Drew and Blues Bros. wasnt even the final round. Dave was running a bye but we were led to beleive there was another car in the other lane but it never came into shot. Most of the footage was from the Saturday during Qualifing and very little from the eliminations on Sunday. with stupid un-educated comments from a comentator about how the timing system had trouble working out how close the race was when 2 cars crossed the line half a car length apart. If he does not want to learn anything about our sport then give him a script to read out so he doesn't make a dork of himself and insult our sport and intelegence levels. Sorry if i sound septic, but that is cos i am a tad peeved[wish this forum would let me express myself in the colourfull words that enable me to state my true feelings] but i was under the impression that we were getting 30 mins of good quality coverage to "raise the profile and promote the sport." Seen the coverage of any speedway events lately? They get what they want....wonder what it costs them? Do the oval ball groups have this problem? I dont see the cameras covering the warm up exercises in the locker room and then showing clips from the previous days game while telling us the results of the match. Why do i feel like our sport just got the smooth end of the broom stick rodgered up our exhaust pipe without any KY warming liquid. I'm gonna stop here cos i'm startin to gets a bit rilled up and i mites say summit i'll regretes or mean

No Mike I agree, and frankly I want 9 minutes of my life given back to me, plus the 2 hours sitting around waiting. that time would have been better spent doing something worthwhile. It was crap, crap, crap i would rather have seen nothing at all than that load of inaccurate shyte. So who is responsable for it, where are they, and what do they have to say for themselves. Who got to preview the footage and decide what was fit to screen and what should have stayed on the editing room floor. Let me guess, they werent Aucklanders by any chance were they, deciding what was best to show of a MMP meeting and what would be best for MMP. Surely someone from MMP would have had some final say or got to see what was being portrayed, if not WHY NOT. If thats the best they can tell, next year tell them to ram their cameras and their coverage up their arse, and do it yourselves. wasnt anything to do with the Tv coverage being organised by the Aucklanders, who in their infinte wisdom only had the crew there for the saturday, and forgot or plain didn't care that MMP run 2 day meetings, Not that, thats a new format or anything. MMP's only been run that way from the git go. wounder how they would feel if MMP ran the Tv covergae for their nationals and made it look like some 3 yr old had organised it all. certainly nothing there to encourage any sponsors to come on board, if thats the level of coverage we can give them for our nationals at our local track. Good on you guys, its not like any of us racers need the sponsorship money or anything Its not like we are trying to encourgae more people into the sport, or a better public image for the sport or more money from sponsors into the sport. The only way you could have done any worse would have been to cover some f**kwits doing burnouts and racing down a main street in town. As far as current sponsors are concerned, they would be better off paying some punk kid to go right a few slogans on the local railway station toilet walls, that would have been better sponsorship covergae to give product or brand awareness etc, that they got from having their name on the side of a car at that meeting. Specially if heaven forbid they were hoping to see their car and stuff on Tv bet K&N are real pleased to. What a crock. And I hope this all gets brought to the attention of the idiots responsable

Who are these Aucklanders your so hot about Avgas, Tv Producers, NZDRA or the Cameramen ?. Are we looking for something thats not there to be filmed ?( yet ). What makes good Tv coverage of drag racing, side by side racing for one, better education of the sport for the programme editor, Someone to stand beside the camera operator & advise him on the cars as they Are in the staging lanes, ie that should be a good pairing or the car in the right lane usually does a good burnout or wheelstand. Just cause they filming at the track doesnt mean they understand or know any thing about our sport. Its good to see the coverage of the top classes but instead of stretching it out it would be good to more of the other cars that were racing. The ideal situation would be a magazine style program but TVNZ want the main coverage to be of the racing only. If you have any constructive critisim send it to NZDRA but also let TVNZ know how great it was to see some coverage of local drag racing on TV. On the bright side, at least the coverage can only get better.

The miserable fcukers responsable for that shyte tv show, thats who.
Someone would have viewed the footage before it went to air, some one arranged the number of cameramen the crews to be there.
One camera was never going to capture mush was it ??
And I heard that little load of crap cost $15K to have done. If thats the case??, money badly spent.
Who gives a ratsarse about the people in the crowd the tatoos etc etc.
The only footage I saw and recognised from the Sunday was Gary Cawthras bonnet flying off, that happened Sunday. I also saw what looked like footage that wasnt even from the MMP meeting. Whats up with that.
And whats up with the comment about something not being good enough to tape YET, or words to that effect
isnt the racing at MMP good enough already FFS
I wonder if Auckland would be impressed and what they would have to say, if the Tv coverage they got the other week, was equally as shoddy as what was on Tv on Sunday just gone.
Every racer ive spoken to today, said the same thing, 9 minutes of utter shyte that did nothing for our sport.
and lets face it, we all know of the division's, the them and us mentality and the Auck v wellie sentiments that are out there, theres no denying they exist.
So lets have the names of the people resposnable.
who arranged the Tv coverage, who booked them and told them what days to be there. Who paid the bill , who previewed the footage before it went to air.
You cant shoot the camerman, lets face it if he was there on his own with no back up and nobody telling him what to do, thats not his fault is it. and if that was the case he was on a hiding to nowhere.
It just seems typical of the rats**t regard that wellington racer's along with MMP are held in, and treated by Auckland in its supremacy.
How would you guys be feeling if the shoe was on the other foot, specially after telling people to watch the show, sunday just gone. Im almost embarrased to have been involved by being at the track racing. And certainly embarrased to have mentioned the coverage to people i had spoken to about drag racing and sponsorship.

Bl**dy hell, what a load of trash. Have seen better tv coverage of goldfish racing!!! And I absolutely agree that we don't need the shots of the birds and the tattoos, aren't we all trying our best to get rid of the "bogan" image? What a disappointment for all the hard-working crew at Masterton Motorplex, was all that work worth it for 9 1/2 minutes? I think not!! And not the way to welcome a new sponsor on board, either. Did the Motorplex Committee have any say in what was filmed or televised?

So like I was saying.
Would those responsbale care to own up, or would someone in the know, care to dob them in.
lets have the names of those responsable so we can let them know how we feel.
and if MMP had nothing to do with it, then i suppose it must have been the Aucklanders and the NZDRA in their infinite wisdom.
Seems odd that the Tv footage of their meet a few weeks earlier wasn't equally as crappy, how come??.
A them and Us mentallity, never
Yeah Right

Rather than being a 'dobber' and spitting out names, I have emailed one of the people who I understand aranged some of the filming/editing etc, and have invited him to have his say here on the Forum. I cant comment as I didnt get to see the coverage.
