a drag car is a drag car is a drag car. I just enjoy spinning spanners and getting a result. Im lucky im old enough to remember dukes of hazard (still have a die cast model) but grew up with fast fours mag etc. Never had any influence in my family as to wot make or type to go for so found my own thing. wld love to own a 69 charger but i can see that being wwaaaayyyy in the future. wldn't mind one of those late model 10.5in tyre mustangs from the states either.

Dukes of hazard, I remember that programme was a fav, so guess I wont be the only one going to the movie to see if jessica Simpson looks any good with her ass hanging out a pair of cut off jeans

Hi all, I'm Mike & I'm from Mt Maunganui, race my Nissan Ute Street Car, Belong to a club called FWO Racing Bay of Plenty its full of 11 seconds street cars & we're all real good mates. Building a kick arse Glass Pop for next season which will hopefully scare the living s##t outta me. Stroker SBC & glide on the Bottle. Home track is Champion Dragway (2nd home) but I'll go anywhere to skid my car, joined cos I have my own theory on CRC Int. Dragway. "Some people loved money more than dragracing & I hope all the wine tastes like Nitro". Sad thoughts as we drove SHW50 last weekend enroute to Masterton. Back then you ran a good 1 to 2 tenths better there by the way.

How the hell do you make something like your ute hook up with absolutely no weight on the wheels ??
It was most spectacular to watch !!!
Cheers Mike

Hell........Thanks mate. All the information you ever need is somewhere. Sometimes no matter how strange an idea... No doubt someone somewhere has tried it before..... My ute weighs 1595kg if you project that weight it falls back on the tyres. With the wellside on it she pulled the wheels higher but I want to go a l'il bit quicker, Its the trucks last year & I want it to be remembered kinda.. At alot of the NSDW events we run on a dewy track so if you don't hook er' up you're a loser. For some strange reason alot of intercooled cars make the track slippery. You need to get traction. Its still on leaf springs & you don't need wheel tubs. I'm glad you like it....cos I f'ing love driving it. Cheers Mike, Mike.

I don`t know if your kidding or not but the intercooled cars are probably using sprayers prior to staging, a big fat no no in most places ...
The mighty Volvo has an intercooler, but even if I ice down the pipes between rounds I make sure its bone dry before I go out ...
Cheers Mike

I was talking to someone the other day and they said the same thing that water on the track was a problem at the Night Wars.

Mike what body style pop you building??, glass body or steel??, isnt there another pretty quick, as in national record quick, pop from up your way, Tauranga or somewhere nearby. just curious is your pop going to me a Bay Chassis works body, have seen a couple of theirs, and they look pretty cool, i think the latest rodder mag has a write up on one of his bodies, a delivery thats down south

Its a classic Pop body but roof chopped of course, not too keen on the delivery or Truck & its glass. Ash Beck from here runs the Ex Chapman Pop yes, 8.9's with more to come is now injected alc. Yes its one of Ritchies bodies it also cloaks one of his own frames as the one I built in the early 90's for it is somewhat outdated now. & they are way cooler in the flesh!

Mike
so is it tube chassis or RHS, comeone dont be stingey, give us some details, always interesting to hear whats in the wings, being built, schemed and dreamed up.
you don't always hear about all the little projects, in the magazines, that pop delivery in the latest Rodder mag, thats down south, looks pretty cool, its a Bay Chassis body but someone elses tube chassis.
what you going to be running for front and rear ends, obviously its going to be a full out strip weapon, or is it going to be registered street driveable.
just curious, always interesting to hear what other racers are building

cheers for that and cheers to Justin to, pity my buckets in bits now, trans decided it didnt like nitrous off the transbrake, and 2nd gear went west, kept running it just 1st then 3rd for the weekend and slightly fried up 3rd gear clutches, but hey it had to come apart anyway. have it getting fixed as we speak, also need new wheelie bars and more fuel system capacity. the current pump cant keep up with all demand. O well thats racing, atleast it looks good
